Staying Motivated

I don't know about any of you guys but there are definitely times when I feel like I need a real kick up the backside when it comes to staying motivated. My blog recently slipped under the radar when I found it hard to find inspiration and I just wasn't enjoying editing, taking pictures or writing. Every time I sat down it felt like I was distracted or something else was on my mind and I just couldn't concentrate. I think all the studying for my exams made me feel burnt out and my heart was in the wrong place. However, I've recently become inspired again and I wanted to share some tips with you guys for staying motivated not just with blogging but life in general...

Get up early. This is probably the best piece of advice my dad ever gave me when he told me that by the time I've over slept even an hour some people have made a million dollars. Okay so I'll admit that it might not make you millions by getting out of bed that little bit earlier but as a rule I never really sleep beyond 8.30am unless its the weekend and even then I'm sometimes working so I need to be up. You will be amazed how much energy you have and how positive you can make yourself feel just by getting up that little bit earlier!

Tackle the hard tasks first. I used to be one of those people who left everything to the last minute and put off things that I didn't want to do for ages. Now I realize that this is definitely not the right way and by completing those things you really don't want to do first it gets them out of the way and stops them from looming over you and making you feel guilty. The chances are that you won't go to the gym later on and if you don't book that cervical screening now you might never go so do them now or regret it later!

Don't just make lists, prioritize! I absolutely love making lists but I have a habit of making them and not actually sticking to them. For instance I'll do one thing and then get distracted and forget all about the list I made in the first place. This is why having an agenda is a good thing so that you know what the most important things to do are so if you don't get everything done at least those pesky all important tasks are out of the way.

Remember to take a break when everything gets too much.  Some people can feel really guilty when they don't have a productive day and I would include myself in that but I also think it can be super important to take a break now and again. Some things in life like studying or applying for jobs can be stressful and tiring and taking a break now and then can help to refresh your mind and stop you from having a complete breakdown. I always take breaks from blogging when I feel the pressure because I think its important that you don't make a shambles of something you love for the sake of pleasing other people. We are only human at the end of the day and it can be nice to have some me time and find something to inspire us again.

Take every day as it comes. A lot of people feel under pressure because all they have in their mind is the end goal so they can forget to enjoy the whole process. For instance, when I first started this little blog I never once thought that after just a year I'd have close to one thousand followers, I'd be getting emails from amazing brands or that I'd meet so many genuinely lovely people over the internet. I've enjoyed every minute of doing this and my blog is a work in process every single day. I have a good work ethic too and will always take on extra responsibilities in my job or do things every day that are interesting or frightening or amazing! Its important to remember not to become complacent or stressed out either trying to reach that end goal or getting to comfortable with the one you have achieved!
