Urban Decay De-Slick Mattifying Powder

If you have oily skin it can sometimes feel near impossible to have perfect make up all day long. This is definitely true for me as I always find that half way through the day my face is a little shiny, and my foundation and concealer tends to oxidize a little around my T-zone. I feel as though a nice blotting powder is always the best way to minimize shine and help keep oil at bay, so I always carry some in my handbag whenever I am on the go. However, with the exception of Mac I actually don't think I've ever tried a high end powder before! I decided to try this one as I adore the De Slick Setting Spray, and it definitely works, so of course I hoped the powder would be just as effective!

Urban Decay De Slick Mattifying Powder claims to be lightweight, and to work on every skin tone imaginable. Now as you can see from the picture it is a little scary looking. It's WHITE! But do not fret this goes on absolutely translucent and I have no doubt that it works for every skin tone as it is completely invisible once applied. It contains rice powder making it super fine, and lightweight, and I can honestly say that once applied I don't feel this on my skin at all. I simply swirl my brush a few times and sweep over my T-zone and chin, and I'm ready to face the day. In fact the formula of this is pretty much perfect when it comes to blotting powder.

I also rather enjoy the packaging on this which is too pretty with its gorgeous floral stencil design through the purple acrylic! Its also very sturdy and closes shut unlike most drugstore powders (Stay Matte I'm looking at youuuuu!), and if that wasn't enough the mirror inside is huge, which is handy for me as I've become quite accustomed to make up application on the train of late. In fact, I'm a complete sucker for anything UD as I think the packaging always looks distinctive, and this is certainly no exception.

The one thing I would say is that I did have to powder a few times during the day whereas with other products I have literally used them once and they have been able to keep me shine free for a whole working day. Now this could also be down to what make up I have been wearing as I've recently changed my foundation so lets give it the benefit of the doubt eh?

Overall, this is pretty much the perfect pressed powder for anyone who suffers from shine or excess oil throughout the day. I absolutely love the packaging of this and its definitely one of the best blotting powders I've ever tried. Its also on offer at the minute on the Feel Unique Website so be sure to snap yours up quickly!

Do any of you use a powder to stay shine free? Which are your favourites?

  1. I think if I was going to pay for a high end powder, I wouldn't want to have to reapply it. I've heard Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder is really good :)

    1. I have heard of that one aswell! Might give that a try when this runs out! Tbh I find it so hard to find a good blotting powder that actually works ! Xxxxx

  2. I've never tried a high end powder but a great high street one is the Bourjois Healthy Balance powder. I've used mine everyday for about 2 months and I still haven't hit pan! xx

    1. I have the healthy balance powder and it's lovely, but I think it adds a bit of coverage to your face as well? Xxxx

  3. Hmm how odd that I've not heard of this before I should try this one next I've been the biggest fan of the Laura Mercier translucent setting powder for years now but I think it's time I found a pressed powder that did a similar job… :) xx
