Bourjois 123 Perfect Foundation

I recently posted a Boots and Feel Unique Haul here on the blog and within it was this beautiful foundation! Now I make it no secret that I don't have very good skin. In fact, it's pretty much the bane of my life! Oily T-zone and dry patches on my cheeks. Acne scarring on my chin, and sun wrinkles around my eyes and forehead. Dull complexion, but yet a little too oily. It has always been a huge dream of mine to be the kind of girl who can pop to the gym or to the shops with zero face make up on, but sadly this has never been the case. I usually wear quite heavy foundations, which cover up rather than enhance my own skin, but I've always wanted to be able to switch to a lighter base. I kept seeing this one on blogs and on shopping trips, but I was just a little too scared to try it. I literally kept telling myself that drugstore foundations don't work on my rubbish skin; until finally I caved and bought it.

The Bourjois 123 Perfect Foundation has three pigments which help to correct different skin problems. The yellow helps to correct dark circles, the mauve brightens the complexion, and the green pigments help with any redness, which in my case would be acne scarring. I was a little skeptical when I first tried this thinking that there is no way this is going to be on the right side of the coverage scale for me; I've owned quite a few Bourjois foundations and they are always quite light. When I put this on the colour Vanilla was the perfect match for my skin tone, but like I thought it was quite sheer in coverage. I was immediately worried about going out wearing this thinking that all my imperfections would show through, but actually after I popped on some concealer my skin looked very flawless indeed.

I'm not sure if this helped with my dark circles, but my skin definitely looked more radiant, and my acne scars where minimized. The texture of this is beautiful and it does blend really well into the skin making you look as though you are wearing hardly any base make up. It also contains SPF 10 which is useful if you rely on your foundation for sun protection, and as always the packaging from Bourjois is beautiful, and it comes with a very handy and very hygienic pump.

The one thing I would say is that this got a little cakey around my eyebrows and nose or even seemed to clog up in those areas, but this could be down to how I applied it; it will be interesting to see if a beauty blender application can help matters. It also states on the bottom of the bottle that the foundation gives up to 16hrs of wear. I would not agree with this, but realistically I don't think there are many foundations that would last this long, so this actually doesn't put me off. Also, my oily skin seemed to seep through around noon, and I found I had to powder quite a few times throughout the day when wearing this, so if you have oily skin you might have to work a little harder to get this foundation to work for you.

Overall though it was rather lovely, and its given me the confidence to start trying more drugstore foundations. I would probably only wear this if I was going out for dinner or something as I don't think it would last the whole working day, but it was around the ten pound mark which is about a third of what I normally pay for base make up so I really can't complain. Another thumbs up to Bourjois!

Have any of you ever tried this or any other Bourjois foundations? What did you think of them?

  1. I absolutely love Bourjois foundations, they're always so easy to blend and feels light on the skin! I haven't tried this one yet, but the 3 different pigments sound pretty promising!
