The Reliable Base; Estee Lauder Double Wear

If you read my blog regularly you will by now be well aware that I have OILY and SPOT PRONE skin, and not only that but I often have breakouts of acne which leave me with horrible under the skin lumps and unsightly red scars. Obviously when my skin is being a pest I rather enjoy the benefits of a high coverage foundation, but until about a year ago I struggled to find one which could cover my imperfections AND look perfectly natural. High coverage foundations would very often feel heavy on my skin, cling to a few dry patches and just make me look...well...flat!

I discovered Estee Lauder Double Wear via a video I saw on YouTube. (Really wish I could remember the You tuber that gave it such a spiffing review as I feel like I owe her one!) That same You tuber seemed to be suffering from all the same skin problems as I was which is why I went out and immediately purchased myself a bottle (along with the amazing concealer), and never looked back. Well actually I did. After a while of taking antibiotics and applying benzyl peroxide my skin actually cleared up! By this point it was also approaching summer so of course I wanted something to enhance my newly found clear skin.

Recently my problematic skin reared its ugly head, and I've found myself relying on this beaut once again. Believe me when I tell you that I have a huge stash of foundations, and have yet to find anything that covers as well as this one. It also lasts incredibly long. I kid you not I have awoken in the morning after a night out and this still looks perfect (We all 'forget' to take our make-up off sometimes right?). It blends well, you need very little, and assuming you get the right colour for your skin tone it will not give you that dreadful 'cake face' look. Oh and FYI you WILL get your perfect colour because this bad boy boasts 31 shades! The only minor problem I have is that this doesn't come with a pump and so can be quite messy. I'm also unsure whether it will work for all skin types because my mum who has dry, mature skin doesn't rate it as much as I do.

Are there any other double wear fans out there?

  1. I am DYING to try this and I think you may have just sold me on it! I bought Nars Sheer Glow and didn't get the hype and I also had MAC studio fix and wasn't overly impressed. I really love Rimmel's Wake Me Up tho :-) Thanks for the great review :-) xxxx

  2. My mom wears this, and she seems pretty pleased with it! I use it occasionally to mix it with my own foundation because mine's too dark, and it mixes wonderfully! In short, I can understand why you love it so much (although having to pour it out can get old real fast lol)
    Such a great post! ♥
