They are not resolutions; they are lifestyle changes.

It would seem that every year at the beginning of January I sit down and make crazy lists titled 'new year resolutions'. These lists contain things I want to do or accomplish, and basically anything that pops into my head (marry Ryan Gosling was on last years list). However, having never been able to stick to these vast lists I decided that this year would be different and that instead of writing down crazy things i want to do (re climb kilimanjaro) I would make just a few simple changes to my life that will hopefully stick by me for the forseeable future.

1. Spend more quality time with friends. This year I definitely deserve the bad friend award. whether it is replying to texts or actually following through with plans I really need to make more of an effort to see and speak to my friends and not just when it is convenient but actually make the effort to spend quality time with them. As I have gotten older I have found I desire less crazy nights out and more naps, but that doesn't mean to say I need my friends any less and sometimes a coffee and a gossip is more than enough from the ladies (or gentlemen) in your life.

2. Find a skincare routine I can actually stick to. I am the worst beauty blogger on the planet when it comes to skincare. I don't even know what suits my skin or even what my skin type actually is. No matter how many expensive skincare products I go out and buy I never seem to be able to incorporate them into my routine and things often get quite chaotic (By chaotic I mean forgetting to take my make up off or using 5 different products in one day not actual chaos which would be entirely overwhelming and just plain frightening.). I have therefore decided that I will be speaking to a lot more *deep breath* consultants this year to find out what I actually need to be using on my skin rather that buying whatever is on offer. I am also going to start using masks once a week as my skin can get a little dull this time of year. I just hope it will all be worth it.

3. Save a little money every month. Okay, this one is probably going to be the hardest for me as I'm a self confessed shopaholic obsessed with high end make up and handbags, but after the financial struggle that was 2013 and of course the fact I am once again a student I have learned the importance of the phrase 'saving for a rainy day'. I have decided to only indulge once a month on things I can justify spending the money on, instead of spending what I have on things I don't need which has pretty much always been the case for me.

4. Eat clean. Get lean. Not as bad as it sounds. I will most definitely not be dieting or going to the gym 7 days a week, but I want to start putting things into my body which I know are actually doing my body good. I think I am going to start by drinking plenty of water and trying to stay as hydrated as possible as well as eat balanced meals. Instead of dieting, which never really works for anyone (does it?!) I want to try to be as healthy as possible 80 percent of the time and if I slip up and have the occasional takeaway then I'm not going to be too hard on myself. I also think that rather than putting pressure on myself to go to the gym I am going to go on lots of long walks and try to do an exercise class a couple of times a week.

5. Blog more. Yup you all know what I am talking about. Life can sometimes get in the way of blogging and make it hard to sit down and write, but I have decided that 2014 will be the year of scheduled posts. If I can get just one free day from work or uni to sit down and write then I will do my posts for the whole week. Blogging is extremely important to me and I want anyone who reads or follows my blog to know that while they are reading, which is why I will never make a half-hearted attempt.
